Effects of the changes if the book study is amalgamated with the TMS
by truthseeker inwe're pretty sure what will happen next week but not why.. this thread is just for a list of changes that will affect those who still go.. .
1) no more private book study arrangements.
the book study host will ask themselves "why?".

Emotional Reactions to the Loss of the Book Study
by DT ini think the loss of the book study will hit some like a death of a friend.
it will mark the end of an era.
it will forever change the religion of jehovah's witnesses and i believe the change is completely irreversible.. of course, most witnesses will be delighted by this.

Oh yeah, we will miss Sis. Wilbersons basement painted Pepto-Pink, and the wonderful scent of moth balls wafting through the air....the drone of the window air unit and the distant tinkle of the run-on terlit................goodby good times..............oompa
Boy, does that bring back memories! Not exactly Pepto-Pink, but the run-on terlit! for sure....LOL But, there must be horror stories of stuff trashed and things stolen, like a previous poster pointed out that I didn't think of. I can remember when the assembly halls had all the coats at the entrance, no cloak room for years with never anything missing....then, all of a sudden cloak rooms had to be installed where each person got their chit so theft must have been a problem - I can see liability issues here and probably more than a few cases of finger-pointing in congregations where no one would fess up to having filched items of value....even the brothers can't be trusted anymore - so much for Jehovah's spiritual paradise.....because after all most of the attendees would be the so-called brothers.....

This is truly the beginning of the end....of the Washtowel Slaveholdery! The writing is now on the wall - and more and more are seeing it. That's my take.

Hello America I'm Back!!
by Wordly Andre inas many of you know i went to south america (ecuador) for my vacation, and to meet some of my wife's family and friends, so i will write a bit about what happend.
first, this was not a typical relaxing vacation with laying out on the beach and drinking cocktails, our first day we took a 3 hour car ride outside the capitol to a area that we hike to see huge waterfall, along the way we toured some volcanos, now quito, ecuador is in some parts as high up as 9,600 ft high, and in that high elevation, a sea level guy like me had some problems, stomach aches, headaches, body aches, and shortness of breath, but i did fine.
after a few days of visiting volcanos, and other historical points of interest, my wife's best friend's husband has a cousin who is a captain in the ecuadorian air force, i was told that we were going to visit him because he is stationed in a town at the gateway to the amazon, so we took a nearly 5 hour car ride into the amazon, along the way stopping at some more volcanos, and little shops to buy shrunken heads.

Oh, so Galapagos sounds doable! I will remember that tour group name, thanks for the recommendation. Always good to hear firsthand. Funny how you did everything you did but were too chicken to snorkle! I have snorkelled in the Bahamas and absolutely LOVED it - that would be something I would look forward to and especially if old grannys were doing it!

Ditching the Book Study. Is it just a Buy Now, Pay Later option for the WT?
by nicolaou init's unconfirmed and it may be nothing more than a rumour but it seems that the congregation book study may be about to see it's demise.
i think this could have a very positive effect as far as the watchtower is concerned for quite a few years.. the mood will be lifted.
there will be a whole new evening of freedom and the brothers will be happy for it, don't underestimate the goodwill this will generate.

Nicolaou:
I've been giving this some thought. If I were still in and hearing this announcement, it would give me pause and probably set off alarm bells. All the harping about the end coming, coming, blah blah blah and now one LESS meeting? How could that be? It would probably cause me to start wondering why the Society was making adjustments in their holy-spirit guided capacity in REACTION to worldly events and situations...bad bad modus operandi for a supposedly God directed organization. People too busy? Ok, so let's ease up on the load??
I seem to remember one of the Ministry school setting sheets (over 50 possible settings to assist the sisters in their talks) had one to the effect of Talking to someone who insists there are TOO MANY MEETINGS(!?!) The higher ups must have realized that not only was this a common objection from worldlings who were not yet baptized but probably some in the congregations were feeling that way as well. Now, if the rumors are true, they are CAVING IN. I think a lot of blinders are going to come off. Some will figure if they've ditched the book study, what meeting is next? Let's skip everything except Sunday (at least for the summer!) and that should be the beginning of the next big exit. Here's hoping anyhow.
